Long light evenings. New things to read. New reasons to write. New words. New people. Sticky cotton shirts. Upper lip sweat. Cold cans. Poems scribbled in phone notes. Kissing. Bare legs on dry grass. Laughter like pink bullets. Music trickled from two floors up. Roses unfurling like her fingers. Long light evenings. New things to read. New reasons to write!
So happy to have you here. Here are a couple of prompts to sink your teeth into.
PROMPT ONE: ‘CATHERINE’S LAUGHTER’
I recently discovered the immutable C.K Williams, picked up a few collections of his from the National Poetry Library, and had that incredible and terrifying experience in which you sob over a series of poems on a quiet Tuesday. Words will save us! But I want to write like that! AH!
I had a right good sob over his series ‘Catherine’s Laughter’ a series of poems and prose about – yes, his wife’s laughter (oh the romance).
